What Families Say About CasaMar

mother and daughter giving a hug to each other

I am the daughter of a resident of Casamar, I am 57 years old, and I work at an elementary school in Chula Vista, CA. I have been living in the United States since 2001.

My mom is an 88-year-old lady who has been in the United States since 1992. She started having memory problems after a vascular embolism. Four years ago, she was initially at home with assistance from someone, but over time, she no longer recognized her own house and would wander out.

Disagreements started among her children, of which there are four – two women and two men. It was decided to move her to a retirement home because it became increasingly difficult to care for her. She had accidents, fell several times, was unkempt, wanted to cook despite being unable to, and insisted she was fine and didn’t need anyone.

We decided on Casamar based on a friend’s recommendation, as we didn’t look in the United States due to the high cost of retirement homes here.

Personally, it hurt a lot to leave her in such a place because I have always been very close to her, but now I am very happy because she seems calm and is always well taken care of, seven days a week, 24 hours a day. All the staff are very kind to all the residents and their families as well. There are geriatric doctors, general doctors, trained nurses, all of whom are always very kind.

I have never been afraid that the retirement home is in Mexico, as we have always lived in Mexico.
